Proclamation
THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROCLAMATION TO
FORMALLY EMBRACE THE IMPORTANCE OF CHARACTER IN LOCAL
GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP AND FURTHER, TO INITIATE
LEADERSHIP STANDARDS OF CHARACTER WITHIN, AND FOR, THE
CITY OF SCAPPOOSE.
WHEREAS, the people of the City Of Scappoose recognize the importance of honorable character qualities in all leadership sectors of the city; and
WHEREAS, we acknowledge that the City Of Scappoose represents one of the most critical elements of community leadership; and
WHEREAS, we have a fundamental mission of making our city a place where people are safe, commerce is healthy, laws are fair, families are strong, and community livability is secured into the future; and
WHEREAS, leadership within the City of Scappoose is built upon the philosophy that daily decisions and actions must incorporate individual accountability and ethical character qualities such as honesty, dedication, personal integrity, courage, compassion, love and respect for all people; and
WHEREAS, if city leadership fails to demonstrate these character qualities on a daily basis, we contribute to the denigration of our community quality of life, and
WHEREAS, we believe that character still counts in Scappoose, and implore all sectors of our community to commit themselves to exemplifying character in their personal lives and inspiring others to do the same.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Of Scappoose hereby pledges a commitment to character as stipulated within the body of this proclamation. We shall encourage all sectors of our community to embrace this philosophy, and exhibit character qualities in every facet of local government.
